This Privacy Policy describes how Lars Grof ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in the "RoadTrip" mobile application (the "App").
1. Data We Collect
Account Information
RoadTrip uses Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication to identify users. When you sign in, we receive and store:
- Your Google account display name
- Your Google account email address
- A unique user identifier (UID) generated by Firebase
This information is used solely to authenticate you and associate your trip data with your account.
Trip Data
The App stores your trip-related data in Google Cloud Firestore. This may include:
- Trip names and descriptions
- Routes and waypoints
- Stops and points of interest
- Travel itineraries and notes
Your trip data is stored in Firestore and associated with your account so you can access it across devices.
Crash Reports
If you have opted in to "Share with App Developers" in your device's Privacy & Security settings, Apple may automatically provide us with anonymized crash reports. These contain technical information (device model, OS version, app version, crash traces) and cannot be used to personally identify you.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data for the following purposes only:
- Authentication: To sign you in and secure your account.
- Trip storage: To save and sync your trip data so you can access it on any device where you sign in.
- App improvement: Anonymized crash reports help us identify and fix bugs.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, data mining, or profiling purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google's Firebase and Cloud Firestore infrastructure. Google applies industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. For more information, see Firebase's Privacy and Security documentation.
Access to your trip data in Firestore is restricted to your authenticated account through Firebase Security Rules. Other users cannot read or modify your data.
4. No Third-Party Sharing
Excluding: Firebase/Google Cloud (infrastructure provider) and Apple's crash reporting service (if opted in)
We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data or trip data to any third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the App. The only third-party services involved are:
- Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore (Google): Used to authenticate users and store trip data.
- Apple crash reporting: If you have opted in via your device settings, anonymized crash reports are shared with us.
5. Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated trip data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your data from Firestore and Firebase Authentication within a reasonable timeframe.
You may also delete individual trips within the App at any time.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, please contact us and we will take steps to delete the account and associated data.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
